It was named after the wild hoarse that wandered abundantly at the time in the area. Ranching has restricted horses, so they may not be seen in the park, but you can find them on the Owyhee Desert west of Wild Horse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">WHRSRA is open year-round. It has a popular fishing site with german brown and rainbow trout, yellow perch, catfish, and mouth bass for anglers to catch. The reservoir also offers swimming, boat, camp, and hike areas. Cold winters make the reservoir&#8217;s lake ideal for skating, ice fishing, or exploring on skis or snowmobiles. Although hunting is not allowed inside the park, the campground is a well-known base camp for hunting in the surrounding area. You can search for mules, deer, pronghorns, elks, upland game birds, and waterfowl. Some of the amenities Wild Horse Reservoir offers include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Camping<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: the campground has 34 sites with a fire pit, tables, shade, and a camp pad. There are no hookups, but it has restrooms and showers available all year round. Water faucets and dump stations are available during summer, with a 14-day stay limit of 30 days.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cabins<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: They&#8217;re located at the end of the park and offer unique views of the reservoir and its surrounding mountains. The park only has three cabins available for rent year-round.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Picnic Area<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: This area offers tables, grills, and beautiful scenery. It is only available to use during the day.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fishing<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: This is one of the most popular activities at the reservoir. Anglers visit hoping to catch a rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, wiper, yellow perch, catfish, or german brown trout. Fishing is often best during spring and fall.
