In 1876 at this site, 263 soldiers and the U.S. Army attached personnel (including Lt. Col. George A. Custer) net death at the hand of several thousand Cheyenne and Lakota warriors. Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument is situated in Southeastern Montana, representing all of those who were in the battle, the 7th Cavalry and Native Americans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Besides the Battlefield monument, you can also find a visitor center and a museum that displays exhibitions relating to the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. The museum also features exhibits of the battle history, archeology, weapons, Custer, Plains Indian Life, and a (wheelchair-accessible) walking tour with some interpretative markers. Along the visitor center (which offers a complete information about the area), there&#8217;s the Custer National Cemetery, which includes burial from abandoned frontier military posts, the world wars, Vietnam and Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A 4.5-mile self-guided tour route is available that connects two separate battlefields, the Reno-Benteen Battlefield and the Custer Battlefield. Handicapped parking is available at the two locations and the visitor&#8217;s center. Ranger programs are scheduled throughout the summer, and bus tours from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.
