The city of Vernal is on the Utah-Wyoming state line, on the northern border of the Colorado Plateau and south of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. It is the largest city in Uintah County and tourism plays an important role in the city’s economy. It has a large site of ancient dinosaur fossils while some of the areas are known for hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities that you must try!

Field House of Natural History State Park Museum

Some of the things that you will find in Utah Field House of Natural History are a classroom, three exhibit halls, a theater and an outdoor garden. The Anthropology Hall has the human history area, the Geology Hall has displays of dinosaurs, algae and mammal fossils and the Natural History Hall has examples of animal life to the area.  While outside the museum is the Dinosaur garden that features full-sized animal replicas.

Heritage Museum

The Uintah County Heritage Museum has displays of groups and individual people who traveled in Uintah for some reason and decided to stay. Once you visit, you are free to explore the journey of these people who made the high mountain desert their home and you can know more about them through the stories that you will hear inside the museum.
