Usher in summer by perusing the weekly Farmer’s Market located at 19 South 3rd. For 19 years, the market has operated from Mother’s Day weekend through the end of October. Sprawling through the streets in front of the Historic Capitol Theater, the market extends as far south as necessary. Open from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sundays, come early for an 8:30 breakfast that is just $5 (available to vendors and the public).
After filling up on hearty sausage, eggs, bacon, and pancakes, discover what’s new this 2018 season. Truly farm-fresh produce, meats, and more are available from local growers. Sample seasonal fruits and berries, enjoy wine tastings from local vineyards, and discover a variety of arts and crafts that capture the essence of Yakima Valley.
You never know which new vendors might show up, like Blue Barn Farm which specializes in raw goat’s milk, goat cheese, and goat-based soap. Pick up gifts at Baubles and Babs, or head over to Civellos Perennials for a gorgeous bouquet. From the goodies offered by Bautista Farm to tantalizing treats at J&M Gourmet Mushrooms, there’s something for everyone.
June 18th is Father’s Day and Kid’s Day at the market, which means this is the day to look for a gift perfect for the special dad in your life. Discover a local, charming way to shop and meet local growers at this staple Yakima summer event.
