Yakima has some great food – check out our favorite restaurants to try while you’re in town!

WaterFire

Waterfire is a restaurant focused on fresh, local ingredients, so the menu is constantly changing to accommodate what’s in season.  Their truffled macaroni and cheese takes a comfort food classic to a whole new level – whatever else you order, try this as well.  The crab fried rice is another delicious choice if it’s available.  Finish your meal with the Brown Cow sundae, which involves salted caramel ice cream, a brownie, a waffle, and kahlua.

Gasperetti’s

This Italian restaurant is popular since they really imbue each dish with a maximum amount of flavor.  They serve a filet mignon topped with a pecan gorgonzola sauce, and it’s so delicious, you will wonder why you’ve never eaten it before.  If you want something a bit lighter, try the chicken in champagne sauce.

Carousel

Carousel is a great restaurant focusing on French cuisine. Try their filet with a cognac cream sauce and shallots – it’s sinfully decadent and definitely evokes French flavors.  And you can’t go to a French restaurant and not have dessert – the chocolate mousse cake is delicious, but the cherries jubilee is cooked like only the French can.  It’s beautifully tart and sweet at the same time.

Crafted

Another farm-to-table restaurant, Crafted’s menu changes seasonally, so you never know what you’ll be able to find.  Regardless, the best option is always the chef’s menu – while you don’t get to pick and choose your courses, everything will be the freshest and most innovative.  Crafted is almost a cultural experience and it’s amplified by their craft cocktails, specially designed to complement the current menu.

The dishes here are internationally inspired, so you might find an Asian mainstay next to a new take on a burrito.  The end result is a culinary demonstration of the various cultures that built America – particularly the West.  The Hanalei Burger is a favorite, topped with pineapple, bacon, teriyaki sauce, and pepperjack cheese.  If you are more in the mood for fish, try the Alaskan Halibut, with pozole verde and lime crema.
