On August 24th, help raise money for Youth Outdoors Unlimited, a non-profit that organizes outdoors trips for disabled and ill youth, by enjoying some barbecue with the Yakima Police Department. Plates are only $5 and while the pulled pork sandwiches from Randy’s are delicious, there’s more to do than just eat! Meet the K9 unit and explore a police vehicle, and kids will have the chance to enjoy a bounce house, a water slide, or getting their face painted!
Yappy Hour At Norm’s
Thursday evenings, celebrate Happy Hour at Norm’s to support Yakima Humane Society! Sponsored by Tito’s Vodka, the event has a variety of specialty drinks for good prices – the Barkarita is delicious! While you’re there, you can grab food, watch the game, and make new friends.
Create Your Own Adventure At Wilridge Vineyard
Normally, you have to join a guided tour to see Wilridge Vineyard, but on weekends, they’re allowing people to forge their own paths! Stop in the tasting room for a map, then wander and learn how wine is made, from growing the grapes all the way to serving it properly. You can even do some rock-climbing while you’re there, or commune with nature. It’s interesting to see how the manufacturing process has changed – or remained the same – over hundreds of years.
Enjoy Dinner In New Ways
Anyone can eat at a table. Red Mountain Trails offers new ways to dine, from trail rides with a picnic meal to dining during a wagon ride as you watch the sunset. Wine is provided during the dinners, and the trails will actually take you near and through vineyards so you get a peek at the process.
Yoga With Animals
Noble Animal Sanctuary offers yoga for animal lovers, with dogs, cats, chickens, and other farm animals all around. The classes, which start at 9 AM are a great and fun way to relax, and afterwards you have the opportunity to take a tour of the rescue, learning about all the animals they’ve helped, as well as the history of the 1908 farmhouse on the land.
Noche De Agave
Every year, the YMSCA hosts the Noche De Agave dinner to benefit the Yakima-Morelia Sister City Association. The evening includes a five course Michoacán dinner, a tequila and mezcal tasting, and live entertainment. It’s fun and delicious, as well as a great way to learn about the culture of Morelia.
