Winter’s almost here, which means the best way to see the mountains is on a snowmobile – here’s where to go!

Wild Horse Reservoir

Wild Horse Reservoir, in the Wild Horse State Park, has beautiful views and plenty of open space for you to take a leisurely ride on a snowmobile.  For the sports-minded, take the snowmobile to the water and engage in some ice-fishing, where you might catch trout, perch, or catfish.

Lamoille Canyon

Lamoille Canyon has a 6 mile snowmobile trail, and the icy canyon will give you plenty to look at as you ride.  You may see signs of local wildlife, and riding along the streams is amazingly peaceful.  This trail is often overlooked for bigger options in the Independence mountains, so it’s not too crowded, but it has some of the best views of open space.

Enjoy seeing the Elko area from the back of a snowmobile this winter!
