You might easily tick off horseback riding and hiking as the go-to sports in Billings, but the city is also home to a seriously incredible women’s roller derby team. The BRDD (Billings Roller Derby Dames) is skater-owned and offers a flat track league competition experience. A hub of knowledge, education and support of ambitious local women, BRDD aims to improve body image and health.
It’s a non-profit organization that partners up with area businesses to serve the community, too. All women are welcome and sisterhood is a cornerstone of the league. In July, practices take place on Sundays, and if you’ll be in Billings for an extended amount of time, it’s the perfect month to check out the team and see about dropping in for a practice or two.
Strong Women, Strong Sport
Every woman is welcome for a drop-in session as long as you’re 18+, and skates are available for rental. Big events take place throughout the year all around the country. The league is also looking for volunteer referees with no skating or refereeing experience required. You’ll be taught everything you need to know, and you’ll have a blast in the process!
For something unique and a chance to build lifelong friendships, check out BRDD while in Billings.
