Celebrate Independence Day in style, here in Yakima!
Every year, at the State Fairgrounds, Yakima hosts an all-day 4th of July festival, celebrating the birth of our nation, with carnival rides, food, music, and fireworks.
Food
You have the option of bringing a picnic if you’d like, but numerous restaurants and food trucks will be set up at the event, so you can try dishes from Yakima’s best. And, while the event is family-friendly, adults without kids or parents who need a break will enjoy beer, wine, and other beverages in the Beer Garden.
Entertainment
Kids will be able to enjoy activities like sack races, watermelon eating contests, and a giant inflatable water slide, while adults will like the free shoot basketball contest and carnival rollercoasters. Additionally, Yakima’s Apple Jam Battle of the Bands will be wowing the crowd with musical genius throughout the day!
Fireworks
Make sure you have a good spot on the grass by 9:30 PM. At 9:55 PM, the National Anthem will be sung, announcing the start of the fireworks!
Other 4th Of July Events
If you want some other ideas, Selah is also having a festival in Carlon Park, featuring country music artist Keith Anderson (“Picking Wildflowers”), as well as an apple pie eating contest, and food ranging from burgers to fudge. The event starts at 4 PM.
Toppenish has their Wild West 4th of July Parade at 11 AM, with over 100 floats and performers involved. Not only is it celebrating Independence Day, but the parade also kicks off their rodeo weekend, so you may want to attend some of the events Friday or Saturday!
