Cowboy Poetry Gathering

This event started 36 years ago as a place where Western ranchers and cowboys could gather to share poems about their lives working cattle.

The Gathering was renamed into National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. This gathering is also known simply as “Elko” to many. This event embraces its role as a pilgrimage destination for hundreds and thousands of ranch folk and others who love the West. They come to learn and experience art that grows from a connection to the rhythms of sky and earth.

Western Folklife Center

This is a museum and cultural center dedicated to the American West with community events and performances. The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering is held here.
